Animation!

Been messing with animation for the past few weeks...switching back and forth from Flash Pro to Photoshop. It's a can of Rockstar rotating a bit, done in a combination of Illustudio and Photoshop. It took...10 minutes. Can't say I tried too hard, it was more of a test of transforming a symbol, namely a star.

But, now that I know the basics I can get to work on some better looking animations. Check back soon to see what I've come up with using this newfound skill.

Also, I see 1000+ pageviews. Many thanks for those who keep checking back in to see what's new from Spin.

My Friend Rachel, cartoonized

Back in June, Rachel had a contest for her facebook group for people to make an entry for the group's banner. I lost track of time and by the time I realized it, I just submitted a random car design. I lost...but got second place, with the prize of giving her a new avatar for a month.

Rather than give her a random image from google (briefly considered Zoidberg...hey, why not Zoidberg?) I made her a one of a kind original cartoon version of herself.

This one...it came out amazingly great. The face really does look like hers (same glasses, hairstyle, and a Pokeball for her love of Pokemon...lol), the body...well, I think I had some scale issues in retrospect. But, live, learn, practice, and try again (someday anyway).

In short, she liked it for a month I saw her on my friends list with my creation.

Cornelius, The Brave Knight

Wow...5 months without a single update. But to be fair, I have not had much time to work on anything new (college...taken up all my time). 850+ pageviews...last time I checked my blog I was around 600 I think. So I give mad props to the people checking my blog, despite the lack of updates. Believe me...for what I plan in the coming weeks this wait will be worth the wait. I'm taking on animation...and not just any kind, I'm bringing the Phantom back. The first full length movie will be a completely original music video of Ember's "Remember". It's all new animation, not clips from the show (I mean no disrespect to anyone who has done that, I personally wouldn't have the patience to go and trim clips so quite the contrary you have my respect). If all goes well, I plan to release the video on 12/25/12...but with my luck that will get pushed back. So keep checking back, I'll be doing more work in the impending weeks.

Now...whatizit??? (above lol)

The creation above is something I did for my friend Rachel. She had an art contest on facebook a few weeks back for who can draw the best looking vision of Cornelius. The specs I had was that he was a knight, turned into a bear by a witch's curse (I'll link up a story when she finishes it)...so I did something to that extent, and gave him a star shield (shoutout to Rockstar Energy lol). Turns out I won the contest, which was awesome and my image got used on her group's header for a while. I know it's not DP...but it was done in the DP style.

The question is...what's with the random orange he's standing on? Well...last year she was supposed to meet up with one of her friends and in her good hearted nature brought him an orange as he had no money for food and was moving from friend's place to friend's place (dude was homeless...long story why). He stood her up, I ran into her, and walked around with her for a few hours. Eventually the orange dropped to the ground and we just laughed calling it the "evil orange". So, the whole image is supposed to represent good conquering evil.

Overall, he came out great I think and she loved him.

Ember McLain Rockstar Energy Ad (Summer 2012)

I wanted to do something new for Ember finally. I also wanted a new Rockstar ad (Penelope's was good, but Ember looks better with that sponsor). So I took a pic from the 2012 Rockstar Energy models calendar (June 2012's) and converted it to an Ember version.

Overall, it came out great. Quality is there for sure, and I went a bit more detailed. Even gave Ember flowing hair down her back...something I don't see too often, but do like seeing it here.

Penelope Spectra Wallpaper

Just a wallpaper I did for myself. Gave Spectra a more laid back look, gave her a can of Rockstar Recovery, and put it on my desktop. Overall, it came out nicely.

I also did it for general practice. Fact of the matter is I want to cut the production times in half...and it's not gonna happen if I constantly change things up with how I make DP art. So the more I do, the more I see what works.

Remember: The Ember McLain Story Visual Novel

Possibly one of the largest project I may ever undertake is about to get underway. caferreri11 of DeviantArt and myself have been teaming up for over a year now to work on his story, Remember: The Ember McLain Story (R:TEMS). Ember's song "Remember" from the series has been rumored to give away a lot of her background information. He turned it into a multiple chapter long novel essentially, while incorporating original ideas into a backstory of Ember.

We thought about converting the story into a flash series at the end of summer '11. But while we both were psyched about the idea, it was really just something to get shelved until life calmed down. It's a lot of work, and something I'm not up to doing in the near future. So I suggested a different idea...a visual novel of the story..

Long story short, my one friend introduced me to visual novels. A visual novel is a story, accompanied with changing backgrounds, characters, sound effects, and music to make the story realistic. You download it, run it, and click through it. It's also a way to see it the way the author did (caferrer11 approves all my character designs).

A site has been made to host the novel:

I hope you all will enjoy the final product.
